What if the weather is bad on our portrait day?

Typically during the summer months, the weather here on the Outer Banks is semi-tropical with afternoon thunderstorms that arrive and depart quickly. If you are concerned about the weather feel free to call (252)207-4677 and we can discuss rescheduling.

What should we wear?

My main recommendation is solid versus patterns but I always defer to your preference and what you look best in. The most popular choice is white on top and khaki/denim shorts or pants. This works well because it is easy to put together and is clean and simple, keeping the focus on the subjects of the photo. Some large families pick a different solid color for each sub-group, creating a unified whole that is also nicely separated.

Is a deposit required to reserve the date?

Deposits are accepted but not required for family portraits. A deposit is required to hold a wedding date.

Can the photos be in color and/or black and white?

yes, any photo can be color or black and white. The price of prints is the same.

Can touch-ups and alterations be made?

General touchups and manipulations are included in the price of the photos. Additional fixes can be made for a fee depending on the complexity of the case. Sunportraits can also restore and copy old photographs that are damaged or need enhancement.

When will our photos be viewable online?

Generally 2 weeks after your sitting date. Once online, your gallery will be viewable for 1 year. I also keep an archive of everything so let me know if you are interested in purchasing photos from older sessions.

Can we order all of the pictures?

Yes. A cd can be purchased with all of the full resolution photos with an accompanying letter of copyright release. The cds can be copied and printed from as much as you like. The price of the cd depends on the size of your group.

Artist's Choice:Canvas Portraits

"Artist's Choice" is a new line of canvas portraits using images I select from portrait sessions and weddings. Any photograph from your gallery can become a canvas print and they are available in color or black and white in the sizes listed below. Discounts are also available for multiple orders, even if the image is different. The canvas is 2 inches deep, gallery stretched (no visible staples) and finished with a hand-brushed clear varnish. The canvases can either be framed without glass or are ready to hang directly on the wall as shown.
